Best Time to Visit Phuket

Phuket has a tropical climate with a dry season and a monsoon season. Here's when to go — and when to think twice.

Best: December – February

The coolest, driest weather of the year, calm seas on the west coast, and the clearest skies — also the busiest and most expensive months.

Second choice: November or March–April

Still good dry-season weather with somewhat lighter crowds than peak season, though seas and rain can be a little less predictable at the edges of the season.

Think twice: August – September

The heart of monsoon season — heaviest rain, roughest seas, frequent red flags on west-coast beaches, and the Similan and Surin national parks are closed.
